About Candida Canfield
President of Dinner in Hand
For Candida Canfield, Dinner in Hand is a dream come
true, an opportunity to use her expertise in cooking to
meet the dinner needs of busy professionals during the
week – when they need it. A long-time gourmet cook as
well as a marketing business woman, Candida recognizes the
pleasure of hassle-free home-cooked meals at the end of
a long and busy day. Candida conceived of Dinner in Hand
while returning home from work on the train. What a
pleasure it would be to pick up a home-cooked meal right
at the train station rather than thinking about what to
cook!
Candida grew up on Long Island, NY in a working class
family who entertained a large extended family on any
occasion. Her mother cooked everything, a talent
inherited by Candida. After working in the restaurant business for 15 years,
Candida became an advertising and marketing business executive for the Daily News,
The Journal News and most recently Law.com, a division of ALM Media. She
successfully managed over $60 million dollars in advertising revenues and
over 100 employees but always wanted to be an entrepreneur.
Candida thinks nothing of throwing parties for large groups of friends and
family and is passionate about food and entertaining. She enjoys keeping up
with the latest food trends and is an avid reader of leading food magazines,
recipe websites and classic cookbooks. Candida supports local farming and
farm-fresh ingredients as a way to help preserve and save our environment
for future generations.
Candida has completed the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification
Examination administered by the National Restaurant Association Educational
Foundation. This certification is accredited by the American National Standards
Institute (ANSI) – Conference for Food Protection. Candida also holds a Qualifying
Certificate in Food Protection from the New York City Department of Health.
Candida has lived in New Rochelle for 5 years and in
Westchester County for over 12 years. She has a son, Daniel, who
attends Temple University and a life partner, Doug
Goldblum, who has 4 children.
